New Physical Therapy Safety Rules & Guidelines

physical therapy safety rules and guidelines complete physical rehabilitation

As we get back to providing top physical therapy care in Elizabeth and Jersey City on June 1, 2020, there are new COVID-19 physical therapy safety rules and guidelines regarding how we deliver patient care.

For our staff, all Complete Physical Rehabilitation staff members will be wearing PPE during treatment hours, including gloves, KN95 face masks, face shields, and protective gowns.   Disinfection and cleaning of all treatment areas and therapeutic equipment has been significantly increased clinic-wide, and new social distancing guidelines are implemented by all staff during PT visits.

In addition to what our staff will be doing, we are implementing the following guidelines for patients:

1.       First and foremost, for the safety of all within our facility, if you feel sick, please stay at home.  We will help you reschedule your appointment for a better time.

2.       Face coverings or masks are to be worn in our facility at all times, including in the waiting area.  There are no exceptions; those without face coverings or masks will not be allowed in our facility.  If you do not own a mask or face covering, masks are available for purchase at the front desk.

3.       We strongly recommend that you practice proper handwashing procedures prior to entering and while in the facility (see instructions posted in-clinic). Each facility building has a hallway bathroom on the same floor in addition to sinks inside the facility that can be used for handwashing (with staff guidance).

4.       Promptness – Appointment times have been modified to maintain social distancing within our facility and eliminate excessive waiting room usage.

Please be on time as lateness will possibly reduce your overall treatment time.  If you arrive more than 5 minutes early for your appointment,  please remain in your car in the parking lot, in the building hallway/lobby areas, or outside of the building until it is closer to your scheduled appointment time before entering our facility.  If you would like to request if it is possible to be seen earlier than your scheduled appointment time, please do not do so in person.  Call your respective clinic and we will guide you further.

5.       Patients will be given priority usage of the waiting room.  If you require assistance to and from appointments (family member, home aide, friend, etc.), we ask that the assistant wait in the car in the parking lot, in the building hallway/lobby areas, or outside the building.  Once you have completed your appointment, our staff will call the assistant to enter our facility and help with departure.

6.       We advise that, if possible, please do not bring your children to the facility.  This will help to ensure that we can maintain social distancing.

7.       For new patients, prior to your first appointment, our front office administrators will be conducting phone screenings to determine if care can be delivered.

Our staff has been trained on distancing guidelines, but, as this is new territory for everyone, we are also asking for your help in maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others while you are a guest in our facility unless absolutely necessary for treatment purposes.

We ask for your patience and understanding as we roll out our new physical therapy safety rules & guidelines.  We know that by working as a team, we can continue to move forward and provide the same top-quality physical therapy service that we have been known for over the past 16+ years.

Thank you so much for your understanding and continued cooperation.
